Overview

Photato is a photo management app that helps you organize, clean up, and free up space in your photo library. We believe your photos are your business — this app is designed to work entirely on your device without sending anything to external servers.

Data We Access

The app requests access to your photo library for the following purposes:

• Photo Library (Read & Write) — to browse your photos, detect duplicates and similar images, identify screenshots and large files, and delete unwanted photos when you choose to.

No other permissions are requested. The app does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, or any other personal data.

Data We Collect

None. Photato does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to us or any third party. Specifically, we do not:

• Collect personal identifiers or account information
• Track your behavior or usage patterns
• Use analytics or advertising frameworks
• Share any data with third parties

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device to provide app functionality:

• App preferences — grid layout choice, onboarding completion
• Membership status — subscription tier and trial start date
• Photo fingerprints — on-device perceptual hashes used for duplicate and similarity detection
• Scan cache — saved results of photo organization scans for faster loading
• Usage statistics — number of photos deleted and storage space freed

All of this data is stored exclusively on your device using iOS system storage (UserDefaults and the app's sandbox directory). It is never uploaded or shared.

In-App Purchases

Photato offers in-app purchases processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment, subscription management, and billing are handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your full payment details — Apple only provides transaction confirmation to the app.

Third-Party Services

Photato does not use any third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, or external services. The only network communication is with Apple's App Store for in-app purchase processing, which is handled by the system StoreKit framework.

Data Retention & Deletion

Since no data leaves your device, all app data is removed when you delete the app from your device. Photos you choose to delete through the app are moved to the system Trash album and can be restored or permanently deleted according to iOS's standard photo deletion process.

Children's Privacy

Photato does not knowingly collect information from children. Since we do not collect any personal data at all, our app is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
